CONCEPT

Banded spherulitic crystallization in an undercooled viscous melt. Expanding radial lamellae undergo periodic helical twisting to produce rhythmic concentric extinction rings and crossed-polarizer Maltese crosses across hyperbolic grain impingement boundaries. 球晶同心环带结晶与正交偏光消光干涉.

LORE

The undercooled melt in the terrace trough does not drain; it vitrifies from scattered nucleation centers. Under the cold ambient glare, radial lamellae twist in lockstep as they advance, carving concentric extinction dark-bands across the disk. 偏光下的马耳他消光十字在晶粒交界处撞碎成双曲线。

JOURNAL

Attempted to capture chiral twisting of lamellar crystallites during radial growth from staggered seed sites. The extinction intensity field $I(r, heta) = \sin^2(2 heta) \cdot \cos^2(2\pi r / \lambda)$ produces the characteristic Maltese cross intersected by rhythmic dark rings. Staggered nucleation times bend the impingement boundaries into true hyperbolic arcs rather than flat Voronoi edges. Density climbed from 0.04 to 0.82 as adjacent spherulites locked into interlocking polyhedra without voids.
